Building my second kayak the PBK 18. The back of the photo is inscribed "Late summer 1974."
Pictured here is the bottom with five keels, gotta watch those rocks. I was anticipating running lots of rapids in the Canadian rivers.
Sanding the edge of the coaming was one of the last finishing touches.
I had started cutting the frames in Ottawa while on a summer work term. It was all done in a small backyard of a rooming house where I lived with a couple of draft dodgers up from the States.
At the end of the work term I finished the kayak in Vaudreuil Quebec, back home with my parents. This is where these photos are taken. We then lived on Le Petite Cote, or Route 17 right next to the Hilltop Motel.
